Pedro Casariego Cordoba, born in Madrid in 1955, took his own life in 1993. He first made his mark as a poet at the age of 18, before later turning to painting. He devoted himself to literature between 1974 and 1986.
Perhaps the life of Pedro Casariego Cordoba is a fabrication.
“Pedro Casariego Cordoba never wanted to be a professional at anything, neither writer, nor painter, nor pianist, nor jester. […] He wanted to be something more or to be nothing. And certainly he was both, a genius without measure, a talent without cause.”
This is how his book Life May Be Fake (in Spanish La vida puede ser una lata ) brings together freehand drawings made with India ink and poems and aphorisms.
The translation is by Marceau Vasseur and Loreto Casado.
